I am equal parts excited and infuriated with myself.
For too long I made excuses. For too long I let others project their fears on me. For too long I believed I wasn’t good enough. For too long I was victim to analysis paralysis. For too long I let doubt and fear and insecurities hold me back.
Today corroborates a valuable life lesson that Eleanor Roosevelt so eloquently summarized into two quotes:
Quote 1: “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent”
Quote 2: “You must do the things you think you cannot do”
After YEARS of always wanting too, I finally started a blog in June, www.eventfullyangela.com
I started it for no other reason than I had always really wanted to. No goal of fame. No desire to make it my living. (Although, not opposed to it either! lol)
I had never considered myself an epic writer. I had no followers or tribe in my corner. Just a passion for the event industry and a desire to share.
Today I learned that my humble little blog is up for its first award. An article I wrote on event technology, is one of 6 finalists for the Digital Talent Award by RightBrains , a group dedicated to inspiring, developing, and connecting women with a passion for digital technology.
This recognition means more to me than the iPhone7 prize and a fancy title. (Although again, not opposed to either! wink*)
The lesson here is on the action taken, more than the result…
I am being rewarded for going beyond my fear, for believing in myself, and for FINALLY taking action.
On this eve of Halloween, I ask you, what is it you are scared of?
What action could you be taking? And in the spirit of RightBrains …is there a technology that could help you get there faster!!??
Wish me luck tomorrow.
Eventfully, Angela
